Our Palau and Yap trip completed our 2010 travel calendar and was a successful close to the end of our first year as Wild Earth Expeditions. We want to thank all our intrepid travelers for joining us on one of our great adventures. It has truly been an amazing year.
Our Wild Earth Explorers discovered exactly why we love Micronesia so much when they experienced the thrill of frenzied sharks at Vertigo reef, kayaked through enchanted mangroves with our cheeky Betel-nut chewing guide Theo, discovered the history behind the largest stone money in the world, devoured delicious tropical fruits, delighted in the color and movement of a Bamboo stick dance and were fascinated by the technique and skill displayed by the locals as the competed in the 2nd Annual Traditional Canoe Festival in Yap.
There is nothing quite like cruising through the myriad of emerald Rock Islands with White-tailed tropic birds soaring overhead. The wonder of a 2 hour close snorkel encounter with seven majestic Manta rays under a spectacular sunset sky. Great conversation and story telling as we savored every morsel of delicious crab at our decadent Palauan feast. Swimming through millions of velvet pulsating jellyfish at Jellyfish Lake and being encircled by schooling barracuda, jacks and sharks while hooked-in at Blue Corner - flying with the current along sheer drop offs adorned with soft corals rich with marine life. The thrill of being delightfully escorted by a playful pod of Spinner dolphins, braving the raging waters on our great adventure to the Ngardmau waterfall! - then spending time hunting for every possible species of Butterflyfish on the reef. Oh and of course the birthday celebrations on Ulong Island with champagne in hand and sand between our toes as the sun set celebrated another perfect day in paradise in its own miraculous colors. It was great to share the beauty and wonders of our “old” home, Palau.
You too can be touched by this special place on our 2012 Palau and Philippines expedition. Stay tuned. This incredible expedition will be announced shortly...
